I shoot this and numerous other brands of 17 HMR bullets out of a scoped, old age and bad eyes, CZ 452 bolt action rifle and over the past 17 years I have not had any problems with this or any other brand of 17s. The quality of brass and bullets are par for Winchester, I’m satisfied with it and wouldn’t hesitate to buy more should I need it, Have a sufficient supply for now.

  • Buddy B said:

Poor quality , very poor , several misfires per 12 rounds , Winchester ammunition has hit the ditch ! Have always enjoyed using Winchester shells , but won't waste my money anymore , bye bye Felicia !!!

I bought 350 round and in my new 17 Savage I got 2 out of every 10 to fire sorry batch of ammo I ever bought

  • marcblueturtle said:

Bought several boxes. Just now got around to firing some in my Henry Golden Boy 17 HMR. Shot 100 rounds. 15 failed to fire. Good strike marks on rim. Just failed. Bad!! I have never had any other 17 cal brand do this. In fact, since I have had my Henry, I have had no failures until now. I read some other reviews around the internet and some had more failures per 100 than I did. Very disappointed in Winchester. Once I get these boxes used up at firing range, I will buy no more and I sure would not use these loads if I were out coyote hunting. -

quality is ok but usually i experience no duds

  • Scott said:

Not impressed with this being a Winchester product. Out of 15 shells,2 were duds . Not a good track record.

  • Eli said:

This was my first purchase from Ammo.com, but it will not be my last.

I spoke with Chris yesterday (28-November) I needed clarification on the rebate process from Winchester. He walked me through the process step by step, shared his own experience relating to the process. It's always reassuring when someone shares from a personal point of view, not just what's written, gave me some insight on timeframes, also advice, go to tje site first so i would know what was needed, a great help to because I'm buying from Ammo.com of course and there are time frames, so that was very helpful as well.. Chirs was patient, knowledge and insightful about all aspects of his product. Normally (as with most) I feel if I dont ask i wont get the full story, Chris always deep dives and goes further giving all needed for me to feel comfortable in my decision. I might add you aren't going to find better pricing, along with carry laws state by state, uodated daily, real time. Service, Pricing, Quality: thats a Hat Trick everyone can live with... thank you Ammo.com for having ambassadors such as Chris representing you....

All rounds have performed exceptionally well. I shoot them in a Taurus Judge. Absolute hoot to shoot, everyone of my friends whom I’ve let shoot it have decided to buy one, too!

  • BuzzedLightYears said:

I run this through my favorite close quarters defense shotgun, my " snake charmer ", and I have no complaints. This is a devastating cartridge ! I pity the fool who wants to press their luck !!

  • JtAlmond said:

I shot 60 rounds of this flat nose stuff along with a fair amount of PMC, Magtech, and Hornady to break in my new 2.0. Every one of these bullets fed, shot, and extracted smoothly. A flat nose 380 gives a smash cavity in your target instead of a round nose just slipping past tissue and deflecting off bone. Best choice for self d.

    thumbs up!

  • Bryan Austin said:

Modern Super-X 44-40 hunting loads only get 1,190fps advertised, limiting this cartridge to only 100 yards. Mine chronographed 1,025fps. Original black powder factory loads achieved 1,325fps and were killers out to 300 yards, later reduced to 1,245, then back up to 1,325fps with smokeless loads. By the1960's they were reduced to 1,310fps when rifle powder was replaced by ball powders. By 1978 Winchester started using flake pistol powders, further reducing performance down to the now 1,190fps advertised velocity. Not to mention from 1903 to 1941, Winchester manufactured 1,565fps High Velocity loads used for the Model 92' Winchesters and other like rifles like the Marlin 1894. Winchester further nurtured the 44-40 with the mouse fart "Cowboy" reduced loads of only 900fps from a rifle. Thus I give the modern factory loads a 2 for performance, a 2 for value since folks are paying an arm and a leg for neutered ammunition. I give 4 stars for quality since since they do go boom every time and are accurate. https://sites.google.com/view/44winchester

Ammo worked as well as can be expected with no issues

  • home defender said:

this ammo shoots so smooth out my 3-inch model 36 Smith and Wesson that it allows my wife to group the shots very tight with a very slight muzzle flip at 40 feet. If I am not home, my wife can pick up the revolver and point and shoot without worrying about safety's, slides, magazines, clip in or out etc. - as she would have a lot of other things to think about in a pressure situation including threat assessment and visual target identification

  • spymyeyes said:

Quality ammo MADE IN AMERICA! Every round went bang and cycled perfectly. For bulk orders they should cut down on the excessive packaging. 50 or 100 rounds per box instead of 5 rounds per box.

  • Sweet said:

    Good quality great price

  • Ash said:

Zero'd my new rifle in 2 groupings at 100yd. this round has not failed me in any regard yet, always hits right where I want it to and it hits hard. longest shot I've hit with this one is 870yd on a 7in x 5in target. I don't plan to use any other ammo for my rifle and I'd say if you're having trouble with groupings on your rifle that you give this ammo a try!

  • Thomas said:

Ran this ammo thru my Ruger AR with a Banish suppressor on, and everyone was amazed at how quiet it was, and when my target came back in, how accurate. Great ammo, would buy again.

  • Marty said:

22wmr 30 grain hp are the best / most accurate wmr I’ve ever used

  • Johnny said:

    Great ammo for target practice.

  • CB Ranger said:

Ammo shoots well, and performs great. Used on a 308 scout rifle and zeroed at 100 yards at a size of a nickel. Will work well for hunting.

  • Ace said:

Love the way they hit the target.

  • Dale said:

exactly as described, was shipped and recieved within 3 days, fast service

  • Kenny said:

At 200 meters can hit a quarter from either a TCenter or Savage rifle. Kills buck deer with just one hit in the chest, same killing power as any 7mm or .30 caliber but with much less recoil. The 6.5 mm CM is the new standard to displace the .308 or .3006 ; why suffer more recoild with no more killing power?

  • Rodster said:

Shot very clean was well pleased

  • Greg said:

Exactly what I needed. Now I just have to learn how to fire the weapon.

  • Dale said:

These are good shells, and high quality from a name you know. Pretty good valve as well, so you can probably afford to shoot all day!

  • Tyler said:

The ammo shoots perfectly out of my picky 1911. I had zero malfunctions out of 500 rounds shot. Fiocchi ammo gave me an average of one malfunction / 50 rounds shot. My only gripes are that the bullets look a little dirty, which of course had no issue with performance. And mostly the only thing I didn't like was that the tray the bullets come in is made out of Styrofoam so it leaves little foam bits all over the counter at the range.... All in all I would buy again.

  • MarkA09 said:

I gave it 3 stars for value because ammo is way too expensive at this time. It's especially true for any Suppressor Ammo (Sub Sonic). The ammo shoots fine, pretty clean, and works well with a suppressor.

  • Bamaboy said:

Punched right through 1/4 inch steel plate like hot butter. Same plate easily stops steel core .223 rounds.

  • Reginald said:

Not bad performs as it should. Im satisfied with the performance so far. No misfires yet although I haven't shot too much but ill do another review if I run into issues. Shot a couple hundred out of my bolt action

  • Killer b said:

    Wonderful damage to targets

  • lskie said:

alot of missfires&some of the shells were bent

  • Mike said:

I've already had several (over 70) misfires (4 boxes in) from 5 types of guns = did not expect that.

    Works well

The 40 Cal performed well no problems. The price was not bad, but i wish it cost less.

Great Ammo, reasonably priced, team was extremely helpful, and I received my order in a reasonable timeframe.

  • John said:

I can confirm the previous review. My Taurus will not feed them. I never had a problem with CCI. Yes, the square tip of the hollow point jams. But they also don't feed through the magazines consistently. And some get stuck in the barrel itself - as if they are not dimensionally consistent and the ones that jam are a little too wide. I have about 5,000 rounds that are useless. Really disappointed with the Winchester brand.

  • JWS - Ft Walton Beach FL said:

I've fired over 400 rounds through my new SigArms auto without a misfire. That has to be a record for me.

  • Ahmad said:

I got the 3330 rounds. Unfortunately didn't go well with my Taurus. Failure to feed likely because it's not round tip. The hollow point makes more likely to get stuck. Now I have tops of these that I don't know what to do with
