History of Blazer Brass Ammo

In 1981, CCI created the Blazer Brass line to offer shooters range-quality ammo at a reasonable price. Since its inception, Blazer Brass has produced high-quality handgun and rimfire ammunition for generations of shooting enthusiasts.

Overview of Blazer Brass Ammunition

Blazer Brass is one-third of the Blazer Ammunition line from CCI, which includes Blazer Aluminum, Blazer Brass, and Blazer Clean-Fire.

Unlike Blazer Aluminum and Blazer Clean-Fire, which use aluminum casings, Blazer Brass only uses reloadable brass casings, which feed more reliably, and Boxer Primers, which consistently fire. However, this also means that the price is slightly higher.

Product Features

To maintain consistent quality and reasonable pricing, you’ll notice Blazer Brass doesn’t offer shooters a wide range of options. Blazer Brass sticks to what they’re good at and stays in their lane.

Bullet Styles

Blazer Brass offers two bullet types-

Caliber Options

Whether you’re looking for 22 LR rimfire ammo or 45 ACP Blazer Brass, has you covered. Check out all the calibers Blazer Brass manufactures ammo for.

Use Cases and Performance

Blazer Brass is most often used by those looking to get the most bang for their buck at the range. I grab a box of Blazer Brass when I want reliable ammo that will not empty my wallet with a single pull of the trigger.

However, it’s not for competition shooters or self-defense.

Don’t miss our Blazer Brass reviews!

Some common questions people ask us at Ammo.com are -

Q: What is Blazer Brass 9mm 115 grain velocity?

A: Blazer Brass 9mm 115 grain muzzle velocity is 1,145 fps.

Q: What is Blazer Brass 9mm 124 grain velocity?

A: Blazer Brass 9mm 124 grain muzzle velocity is 1,090 fps.

How Does It Compare with Other Brands?

I’ve shot many brands over the years, and I’m constantly evaluating their performance to confidently purchase the best ammunition for the price.

Because Blazer Brass offers high-quality ammo at a reasonable price, many brands are worth comparing.

Blazer Brass vs Magtech

Blazer Brass and Magtech ammo are very comparable. Most shooters, myself included, consider them both quality ammunition. I’m grabbing whichever one is cheapest at the time, but most shooters give a slight edge to Blazer Brass, probably because it’s manufactured in the US, while Magtech is made in Brazil.

Sellier & Bellot vs Blazer Brass

Sellier & Bellot is often considered superior ammo over Blazer Brass. It offers a more comprehensive range of options, and many shooters believe it uses cleaner-burning powder.

I’ve found that they both cycle through my pistols well, but Sellier & Bellot has a little more recoil than Blazer Brass.

PMC vs Blazer Brass

PMC and Blazer Brass are another toss-up, with most shooters choosing Blazer Brass, citing better brass quality. PMC and Blazer Brass are typically similarly priced; however, PMC tends to have a broader range of bullet options, whereas Blazer Brass is limited to two.

5 Reasons Why You Should Buy Blazer Ammo in Bulk

  1. High-quality ammo manufactured by an established brand (CCI)
  2. Blazer Brass 9mm 50 rounds and Blazer Brass 9mm 1000 rounds are reasonably priced
  3. Blazer Brass is an excellent range day ammo
  4. Buying bulk ammo saves you money in the long run (lower cost per round)
  5. You’ll always have plenty of ammo on hand whether you need

I ordered the 350 round boxes of blazer 9mm. When I inspected the ammo all the brass casings were heavily tarnished and corroded. I would be ashamed to sell this to anyone. The ammo looks like it sat outside for a year. Very poor quality I have left 3 e-mails and 2 voice messages since no one will answer the phone number. Poor quality and poor customer service!

  • Sparky said:

My digs 229 and 320c both had jams and cleaning needed more than usual

  • Rangenut said:

As much as I go to the range which is every other weekend, I go thru a lot of ammo. So when I see a deal on bulk ammo I buy it. After shooting 350 rounds in a a day then clean my gun it's not that bad. It burns pretty clean..

  • Steve said:

Great ammo for price. Was able to hold tight pattern. Will be purchasing more.

Did not have any problems with Blazer Brass ammo. The ammo's quality is good. First time I have tried them and I am pleased I tried them. Would not hesitate to purchase again..

  • Rich said:

My go to practice ammo. No problems and cheap. Respected at indoor ranges.

  • William T said:

Regrettably price for ammunition during the shortage is higher than previous pricing. That said, this is a great range practice round. Recommend.

  • SIW said:

I've sent a quite a few hundred down range with my 1911, and my SA XDM 3.8. Not one issue.

  • Harry said:

So far only fired 100 rounds. Had one stovepipe in first 50, and two stovepipes in second 50. The pistol is 50 years old and in near-perfect condition. I normally do not get more than 1 hung case in 500 or more rounds, much of it Blazer Brass purchased locally. As I get more experience with this lot of Blazer Brass, I'll try to update my opinion.

  • Trey said:

Good target practice ammo for the price. Will jam occasionally but for the price it's manageable. Better than other brands I've used but not perfect

  • Stay Focused said:

Bought 1000 rounds due to price. Other reviews seemed okay. I have shot 5 mags and almost every round jammed. Great for teaching my children hw to deal with firearm issues but terrible if I needed it to function properly.

  • Robert said:

very happy came through in the clutch, thanks

  • BobbiJo said:

The Blazer Brass 9mm ammo performed very well. Didn’t make a mess of my gun. And I had no misfires. Quality ammo. I can only give it 4 stars though because of what we are forced to pay for target ammo these days.

  • BobbiJo said:

This ammo is solid range stuff. It’s clean and I’ve yet to have any issues with it. Can’t go wrong with blazer brass. Thank God for Ammo.com. They ship super fast and they have decent prices. One of the few companies that ship to NJ too. And love the sticker they put in every order.

  • Denny said:

Great products, service and pricing. Really like the turn around times.

  • Josh said:

~2,400 rounds of Blazer Brass spent training for competition with a 9mm 1911, I'm yet to have a failure that wasn't my own fault. You could save a couple bucks and buy cheaper ammo (and I've certainly tried to), but at the end of the day I think it's worth it to spend an extra $10 per 1,000 rounds to have 0 failures instead of 10+. At time of writing, this is the most affordable ammo that I think earns 5 stars.

  • Kevin said:

Every time I shot with this in my Glock 26 it jammed. I don't know if its because its 115 grain or not.

I’ve used this Ammo before and I happened to ponder on this site while looking to buy more. The sale price was fantastic but as a first time customer I was worried about shipping as I’d had some long wait time with other companies in the past. I’m so happy to say that I ordered on a Saturday evening and by Thursday my order was at my door. You guys are awesome. Thanks!

  • Tim said:

This was my first online ammo purchase. I was very satisfied with the prompt shipment and the price was as good as I have ever been able to get Blazer ammo.

I recently bought a case of Blazer 9mm, 115 grain FMJ ammunition from Ammo.com for a price that I felt was very acceptable. I have been very happy with this transaction. The case arrived at my front door in just a few days. Today I went to the range and fired 100 rounds through my Springfield Arms XD-S concealed carry pistol and was very pleased with the performance of this ammunition. No jams and hit on target with every round.

Already through 400 rounds and have had no hangs, jams, or failures. Very consistent ammo for my Springfield 1911 Range Officer 9mm. It does leave a bit more residue, but I am a veteran and fanatical about cleaning. Overall a huge success. The service and shipping were first rate. I will be coming back for more.

Would definitely buy this again. I came back from range gun was pretty clean compared to other ammo I've used.

  • Bill said:

Even though I am an Army Vet (Airborne Infantry, M60 gunner to be exact), I had never shot a pistol. That being said, I have used now about 500 rounds of this order and have not had one issue. I find my rounds tend to go where I want them give or take... I have use my Sig P226 as well as my Kimber stainless Custom Match II and did not have any malfunction what so ever. The order came in a reasonably fast time and I thought the price was good for this market. The brass is also good for reloading if you are in to that sort of thing. I am saving mine to either reload or resell. I put 4 stars on value for this because I think that the market prices are way too high and should not really be a reflection of this item and Ammo.com pricing.

I've run about 400 rounds so far and haven't had any issue. Performance and Quality seem to be about the same as any other ammo I've ever shot, hence the 3 star rating on those two, but value is great. haven't seen better prices anywhere

CCI has been a Great Ammunition Manufacturer for a long time now! CCI has been one of my favorite Ammunition suppliers ever since I was a little guy! This time it is a 124 Gr 9mm shell! This ammunition gives me very high accuracy in mt Sig Sauer P320! It also performs well in my other 9mm pistols!

I bought these to shoot some steel targets. The cycle well in the pistol, no misfires, they seem fairly consistent in their performance. I'll definitely buy them again.

The Blazer 9mm is great for target shooting and practice. Feeds clean and I have not had any issues with load consistency. I have tried buying some other (cheaper) brands and have had issues with stovepipes and ammo feed after firing a hundred rounds or so. The blazers have stayed consistent, and kept on rolling even after 400-500 rounds in a weekend of fun .

  • Steve said:

Consistent, reliable, clean at a good price.

  • Skullbuster said:

shot good but price was a little high!!

  • Sam said:

I purchased Blazer at a local Fleet Farm and it was 14.99 for a box of 50 9mm and this was on sale and I bought 1000 rounds. With tax it came out to around $0.34 per round. I purchased 2 1000 round 9mm here, and even with tax and shipping, it still came out to $0.29 per round. I've been spending a lot of time at the range and have been going through 150 to 200 rounds per day. So it adds up and buying 2000 rounds from Ammo.com... that comes out to $100 savings over buying local.

Top shelf ammo for the price. 125 rounds without a hiccup. Might want to consider a lighter round in a compact...kicked too much for my wife in my sr40c (usp handled it like a champ) but I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. Maybe 165gr so we can both use it :)

Works well enough, only had a few malfunctions in 1000 rounds shot. My big gripe is that the jackets separate from the lead core as the bullet leaves your muzzle. This does seem to be widespread on the forums that I have read. Blazer has even responded via email and acknowledged that this does happen, something related to cost savings in the manufacture process to ensure cheaper prices for the end consumer. They say there is no risk of damage to your firearm, and I have no reason not to believe that. but there is a risk if you are using Blazer ammo in live-fire training exercises, where other students might be within close proximity. some instructors have even banned the use of Blazer ammo in their training classes. So basically it is a great cheap range ammo, if you don't mind the occasional speckling of copper bits on your targets. just don't use it for live fire training exercises where you are within close proximity to other people.
