Overview of 22 Long Rifle (LR) Ammo

22 LR ammo is the most widely produced and popular cartridge in the United States. For more than 100 years, it has served the needs of hunters, sport shooters, law enforcement, and even the military. Based on the Flobert BB cap, 22 Long Rifle ammunition is the result of continuous improvement of the BB cap to meet the need for a cartridge with accuracy, low recoil, and low noise for many applications.

The 22 LR rimfire cartridge is used in many situations, from target shooting to plinking and small rodent control. It's comparatively inexpensive, widely available, and lighter to carry – making 22 LR ammo a fantastic choice for extended shooting sessions at the range, an extended hunting trip, or a long hike while hunting rabbits and squirrels.

For reliable performance across all these applications, many shooters choose CCI Mini Mag 22LR for its consistent feeding and accuracy.

These 22LR are clean firing, no duds, and no jams. Buy in bulk is the way to go.

  • Kev said:

Ammo is accurate and had zero issues running it through two different 22s.

  • CLL said:

I enjoy trying different ammo and the Armscor worked well with my Glock, Ruger and Volquartsen. Stellar service from ammo.com.

  • oldtechdawg said:

I bought the case and price is great. Win 36g cphp is real nice round and out of the first 1k fired, one ftf. both semi-auto pistol (P322) and 10/22 carbine "like" this bulk pack round. Will purchase more when time comes. R

I can confirm the previous review. My Taurus will not feed them. I never had a problem with CCI. Yes, the square tip of the hollow point jams. But they also don't feed through the magazines consistently. And some get stuck in the barrel itself - as if they are not dimensionally consistent and the ones that jam are a little too wide. I have about 5,000 rounds that are useless. Really disappointed with the Winchester brand.

  • JWS - Ft Walton Beach FL said:

I've fired over 400 rounds through my new SigArms auto without a misfire. That has to be a record for me.

  • Ahmad said:

I got the 3330 rounds. Unfortunately didn't go well with my Taurus. Failure to feed likely because it's not round tip. The hollow point makes more likely to get stuck. Now I have tops of these that I don't know what to do with

I've shot this in a Marlin 39A, Enfield BSA Trainer, M4 Colt with 22 subcal unit, SIG 226 with 22 conversion and my Colt ACE. Functioned well in all. No problems feeding or clean up.

A lot of reviewers on different sites say this ammo is junk . I have a gsg 522 always used this ammo it's accurate ,no problem rapid fire auto feeding only issue after around 2000 rounds the gun needs a complete tear down to clean it is on the dirty side AMMO.COM is GREAT TO DEAL WITH

Horrible ammo, stuck in my revolver and wouldn't feed at all thru SIG Sauer Mosquito. Unfortunately, I bought several boxes. Note to self, in the future, buy the smallest amount of ammo to see if it's worth it.

worst ammo I ever tried ammo misfeads, duds & jams. No power junk.

    Great ammo buy them

  • Butch said:

I agree with a previous response. The loads are not consistent. Some crack but others are a dull pop and won’t rack the slide. I emailed Remington yesterday 11/18/18.

Great Ammo!! I am very pleased with this 22lr ammo! The shipping was fast, and the ammo shoots very consistent! I got very tight groups when shooting my Mossberg AR 22. Will definitely be buying more of these!!!

I've only shot 20 rounds and had 8 complete failures. I made sure they were fired by multiple pistols and even 2, 3 or 4 marks on the rims and nothing. Luckily I only bought 3 50rd boxes to try out. I won't be buying these ever again.

  • RUINED MY PISTOL said:

I was firing other brands of ammo through my pistol. I bought this ammo, and fired through my pistol. IT RUINED MY PISTOL!!!! I NOW HAVE A VERY PRICEY PAPERWEIGHT!!!!!! MY GUNSMITH STATED THAT I NOW HAVE SPARE PARTS FOR MY NEXT PISTOL!!!! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS AMMO!!!!!

  • :) said:

Ammo performed perfectly! Definitely gonna be a repeat customer! Thanks again!

  • NedC said:

Not much more to say. Great value. Wish shipping was cheaper though.

  • John said:

Good ammunition overall, had a couple of jams out of 300 rounds.

  • Hamid said:

Works well with my 22 pistol. Very reliable

  • Philip said:

This is CCI 22lr ammo so I would not expect the best and indeed CCI did not let me down. What did let me down was ammo.com's shipping department. Each of the 100 round was packed in standard CCI plastic slide top boxes and of the 5 boxes ALL 5 were cracked and or broken. The shipping box they came in looked okay shape, a couple of brused coners so the damage to the 22lr ammo had to have come from something internal, like the 3 boxes of Speer Lawman 38 Special Ammo - 50 Rounds of 125 Grain TMJ Ammunition and the 2 boxes of Hornady 357 Magnum Ammo - 25 Rounds of 135 Grain FTX Ammunition. I am pretty sure the 35 special and 357 magnum ammo was sloshing around inside the shipping container and hitting against each other as the 22lr ammo. The packing inside the shipping container was pretty minimal for that much weight and there should have been a lot more packing so nothing could move around. All the internal boxes need to be held ridgid. Don" feel bad, I have ordered ammo from other online companies with very simular results.

This seems to be the best functioning ,consistent ,and accurate I ‘ve used. Strongly recommend. I guess especially if you are on a small game.

  • PAUL said:

Very high quality consistent ammo. Never light strike, always reliable. Best on the market.

  • SideWinder said:

Love this ammunition! I fired over 1500 rounds through my S&W M&P AR 15-22 with only two rounds not ejecting completely. Your price is somewhat high as this ammo can be found elsewhere for around 50.00. It is your great service and timely shipping that keeps me coming back.

  • sergio said:

  • Chuck said:

The ammo I purchase from you worked great. No jamming or misfires. I was completely satisfied. The value was ok, but considering the cost of shipping it wasn't that great. I don't do a lot of shooting so I would probably purchase again.

  • steve said:

CCI does me very well, hardly ever a problem cycling and much cleaner than lots of other brands. As long as its available will always use CCI and the service here also great.......I'll def be buying from here again.

  • Lou said:

I grew up in the 70 hurting with a Mossberg Model 351KA hurting squirrels with stinger's. I had very good luck. When I got in my early 20's I brought a Browning Buck Mark to take with me when I was deer hurting, because squirrels would to always come under your deer stand so at the end of the day I would use it for them. After a while I would hunt squirrels with the buck mark and stinger's, and at 61 I still use stinger's but I have upgraded to a Ruger Mark IV I got it because it is easier to clean. I also still have the Mossberg.

Absolutely the best 22lr ammunition I have ever shot; very consistent and accurate .

    Cycles great shoots great.

This will not cycle in my Walther Gold cup and won't fully load in my revolver. They only go about half way into the cylinder. They do seem to fire ok in my model 77 Winchester rifle.
