Overview of Wolf Ammo

Wolf Ammunition is renowned for its affordable, reliable ammo, particularly steel-cased calibers like 7.62x39mm and .223 Remington. With a focus on performance and price, Wolf imports a wide range of ammunition for rifles, pistols, and rimfire firearms.

If you need this caliber, check our selection of 6.5 grendel bullets.

Where Is Wolf Ammo Made?

Wolf ammo was historically manufactured at the Tula Cartridge Plant in Russia, known for its robust production capabilities. However, Wolf now sources ammunition from various global suppliers, including Taiwan and Serbia. Notably, their Wolf Gold line features brass-cased ammo, distinguishing it from their traditional steel-cased offerings.

Key Features of Wolf Ammunition

  • Steel-cased ammo with polymer coatings for durability and functionality.
  • Wide variety of calibers, including military favorites like 5.56x45mm and 6.5mm Grendel.
  • Options for bimetal and copper-jacketed bullets in FMJ, hollow point, and soft point configurations.
  • Brass-cased Wolf Gold line with match-grade and multipurpose tactical bullets.

Wolf Ammo and Global Demand

Wolf gained prominence during ammunition shortages in the 2000s, driven by high global demand from military contracts, including supplying Afghan Army operations. Their affordable, high-quality products continue to make them a top choice for bulk ammo purchases by preppers, plinkers, and competitive shooters.

Popular Wolf Ammunition Lines

  • Wolf Polyformance: Steel-cased rounds designed for durability and functionality in various calibers.
  • Military Classic: Ammo mimicking military specifications, including 7.62x39 and 5.56 NATO.
  • Wolf Gold: Brass-cased ammunition offering cleaner operation and reloadability, available in popular calibers like .223 and .308 Winchester.
  • Rimfire: .22 LR ammunition with options for match-grade, subsonic, and high-velocity bullets.

Misconceptions About Wolf Ammo

Contrary to rumors, Wolf uses a polymer coating on its steel cases, not lacquer. This coating ensures functionality and durability, even under high heat. All Wolf ammunition complies with SAAMI standards, making it safe for all shooting purposes.

Why Choose Wolf Ammunition?

Wolf ammo delivers reliability and affordability for shooters of all types, from casual plinkers to competitive marksmen. With an extensive variety of calibers and bulk purchase options, Wolf remains a trusted name in the ammunition industry.

Loved the price. No problems at all.

Good, cheap plinking ammo for your AR15 range toy… you will feel very dirty after burning thru this big ol box, almost as dirty as it will make your weapon so be prepared to clean and lube your pew pew afterwards! Practice safe shooting while at the range: no pulling out of your lane, try your best to keep your rounds center mass and fight the temptation to try head shots or facials on those silhouette targets!

Very nice ammo to target practice and cheap to shoot a lot of.

They arrived promptly. They fired very well and for the price i will buy more. I am very satisfied

This is steel cartridge cases, steel core bullets and they have been banned from all indoor ranges I have been to as the round fouls up the range backstop. The cases are also Berdan primed and cannot be used for reloading, same garbage as TulAmmo. If you want to recycle you'll have to shoot several tons to recycle the steel. NOT RE-LOADABLE. They shoot, had some failure to feeds, I will never buy Russian made garbage again.

I have been using Wolf ammo for decades: It has been 100% reliable and has very good accuracy in my firearms. I am very happy with this product, especially on sale, and I am able to shoot more frequently and with more rounds fired per range time. This is very advantageous to keep ones skills honed. Hopefully, the importation of this ammo will continue at these favorable prices.

Cost of steel cased ammo - cons of steel cased ammo - but well made AFAICT

    Worked exactly as described!

I run these through a Ruger 10/22 factory bull barrel. Benched shooting at 100 yards, they print Quarter sized groups.

Bought 1000 rounds from lot 3122-30189, fired approximately 350 and had 5 short rounds from cartridges from 2 different boxes. Trying to prepare for USBR rim fire competition and now not sure I can trust this ammo? Had to rod the barrel to insure I didn't have a squib round, this takes time and deflection from competition.

This fires very well and is worth the extra money. If you use 22 cal for self defense buy this one. Never had a misfire with it. This is with the product made in Germany. I haven't tried if from England yet.

First rounds put down range with a Larue 6.5 kit put together with a Spike lower. On paper with Magpul iron sights and satisfied with grouping for backup with 6 shots at 50 yards. Zeroed with Burris XTR II 3-15 50 with 5 shots. Dialed out to 208 yard steel silhouette and easily hit head shots on the 6x6 head. Ran 50 more rounds without a failure down range and multiple targets. Will need to go to longer range for more information, however very satisfied with this ammo for this purpose, the great customer service, and speedy delivery.

Shot these at 100 yards and was impressed by the roughly 1 moa group i got from my grendel AR. not bad for cheap steel "plinking" ammo.
