History of Hornady 300 Blackout Ammo
Why Buy Hornady 300 Blackout?
Since 1949, Hornady Ammunition has been at the forefront of cartridge and bullet technology. Even today, Hornady Ammo holds true to J.W. Hornady’s standards on accuracy: 10 bullets in the same hole.
The 300 AAC Blackout was developed to increase the stopping power of the AR-15 carbine while maintaining standard 5.56 NATO magazines and capacities. Similar in ballistics to the 7.62x39 Soviet round, the 300 Blackout (300 BLK for short) never saw military service but has become extremely popular with civilian shooters. In particular, the 300 Blackout has come to find itself pressed into a hunting role, as it packs more than enough punch for whitetail, hogs, and other varmints.
If you’re looking for 300 Blackout ammo Hornady produces some of the best in the business. Available in both supersonic and subsonic variants, Hornady 300 Blackout can cover all your shooting needs.
For varmint hunting the 110 grain V-MAX or CX make great choices as these lightweight bullets work great on smaller critters. For larger game animals, like whitetail or antelope, we’d recommend the Hornady 300 BLK Custom 135 gr FTX. For general plinking with your AR-15 or 300 BLK rifle, we’d recommend the Hornady 300 Blackout 125 gr FMJ in their Frontier line of ammo. These cartridges are cheap enough that you won’t feel bad blowing through a few boxes at the range for fun.
For all your subsonic shooting needs, Hornady 300 Blackout ammo has you covered with two amazing options. The first is the 208 gr A-MAX, which was the first subsonic 300 Blackout ammo Hornady produced. They have since added a 190 gr Sub-X cartridge to their Subsonic lineup for all your suppressor shooting needs.
No matter what type of shooting you’re looking to do, there’s a Hornady 300 Blackout ammo available to suit your needs.

Hornady is top notch as we all know and the service and ease of ammo.com makes it thst much better.
Bought this ammo for a Run N Gun competition, it worked falsely as it should. I reload my own but with the short notice of this shoot I did not have the time to reload my own. I have some to trust Hornady products as I use there Lock N Load AP Ammo plant press. This ammo was great and was super quiet with my 10.5" SBR I will be getting some more soon so I have the brass to save this time.
