9mm Hollow Point Ammo For Sale
Overview of 9mm Hollow Point Ammo
Hollow points are why 9mm became America's default carry cartridge. Gel testing after the FBI's 1986 Miami shootout, and decades of jacket and cavity engineering since, closed most of the terminal-performance gap between 9mm and bigger calibers. The FBI's own return to 9mm in 2014 rested on modern hollow point performance.
This is our largest hollow point selection, built around the three standard 9mm weights: 115 grain for velocity and light recoil, 124 grain as the balanced duty weight, and 147 grain for subsonic penetration and suppressor use. Roughly a quarter of it is +P or +P+, for shooters who want more velocity out of compact barrels.
How the major 9mm hollow points differ
- Bonded and engineered duty loads: Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, and Hornady Critical Duty hold their weight through heavy clothing and barriers. These are the loads police agencies actually issue.
- Polymer-filled cavities: Hornady Critical Defense and FTX plug the hollow point so denim can't clog it.
- Value JHP: Federal, Fiocchi, PMC, Winchester, and Sellier & Bellot load conventional JHPs at prices that make it practical to buy enough to verify function.
Before you carry, run at least a box of your chosen load through your pistol.

My Glock eats this stuff up. I like it so much I don't want to shoot the remaining 700 rounds I have left. I just stash it with 300 rounds of 9BPLE and take it out to drool over it before I head to the range with PMC for plinking.

I find it a great value and excellent quality and fine performance ammo and would happily recommend it to anybody else to use. I have used it in both my 9mm pistols, SCCY CPX-2 & Kel-Tec P-11.

Most known name brand ammo does near the FPS as they advertise. When I shoot those other quality name brand ammo out of a 5" barrel, the chrono shows my gun shooting the bullet a little faster than advertised FPS (my gun is shooting the ammo slightly faster than advertised, because most 9mm ammo is rated for a 4" barrel, I'm shooting for a 5" barrel). This ammo as advertised at 1237fps, the best I could get is 1160fps (the lowest was 1105fps, the highest 1160), and again, that result from a 5" barrel, most handgun ammo is rated using 4" barrel. This ammo seems to way overrate the FPS

I was testing a new Canik TTI combat and had numerous stove pipes, failure to battery and miss fires. I believe it was the firearm and not the ammo.

Every ammo I have purchased and used that has the Federal name on it has been the creme de la creme in my book. The 147 grain JHP is no exception. Whether it's for my revolvers, pistols or long guns I have complete confidence when Federal is with me.

Bought 500 rds. first mag, would not feed, S&W M&P, tried it in a Taurus 709 same thing, tried some in a hi-point 9mm, made it through the first mag then the second, hmm what;s up with this? third mag 2nd round no feed, 4th same. Sorry to say I wasted hard earned money on target and practice ammo I can't use. Don't buy.

Way too many jams and stovepiping with the 9mm brown box ammo. Used it with Glock 17 and Ruger carbine with multiple misfires and jams.

DJ said:
While running these through my FN509Mid, they haven't jammed while ejecting, haven't hang fired, and haven't refused to feed. Overall, well made ammunition.

Best self defense ammo to carry I have seen. At this point I can't imagine carrying anything else for my own protection. It is pricey but my Life and family are worth every penny for CC.

I have and prefer the HST and Speer Gold Dots as my edc loads. The HST has the most expansion you can find in the gel tests if you pay attention to those. A bit pricey, but.....worth the extra for performance

Seems to work well for me in my Beretta 92s Italian Police turn-in. A possible alternative if you can't or don't want to use +P ammo in your 9mm However, as with the case with every self-dense loading fire at least a full mag (plus one in the chamber if this is how you would use it for self-defense) through the gun to make sure it feeds and ejects all rounds before relying on it for self-defense.

I ended up placing an order during the pandemic and couldn’t have had a better ammo buying experience. Not only were they the only company with Gold Dot in stock, they also had it to me within just a few days! The order was exactly what I wanted, packaged well in the box, and all the ammo was in good condition. I will definitely be buying from ammo.com again!

Couldn't find any ammo locally, but like everything in Washington and crude oil, there seems to be a shortage in brains and pipelines. I found AMMO. NET to be fast and a reliable source.

With the shortages in Ammo I was very happy to receive what I was able to get. The ammo cycled and shot great. It was to bad there wasn't more of it.

Shoots well through multiple platforms with and without suppressors in both semi and full auto….. No stove pipes or misfeeds in pistol, or rife. Good all around performance. Relatively quiet using HUXWRX 9mm TI suppressor

A number of large urban police departments have issued this round for duty in the past fifteen years, including Cincinnati, Ohio PD. They've had a fair number of deadly force incidents with it. It generally gives decent expansion and outstanding straight-line penetration, and does anything you might ask a duty or carry load to do quite well. One downside is that Winchester in the past several years has had some quality control problems. Another is that this round is not sealed or waterproofed in any way. Nonetheless at least when fired from full size duty pistols, it almost always expands in gelatin, even through a heavy clothing barrier. I don't think it is quite as consistent in its performance after hard barriers like automobile windshields as, for example, T-Series/Ranger-T, Gold Dot, or HST, but it's really very good. I don't think you can do much better for the money. Not so long ago it was available at Wal-Mart. I bought it cheap and stacked it deep back then. The carry gun is currently loaded with Winchester 147gr T-Series, but if premium 9mm defensive ammo were not available, I'd carry these without complaint.
