Overview of 9mm Ammo

Whether you call it the 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9mm NATO, 9 millimeter, or just plain 9mm, 9x19mm ammunition is the most popular cartridge for handguns in the world – with more than 60% of the world's law enforcement agencies currently using this ammo. The role of 9mm Luger bullets in World War I and its continued popularity today testifies to its capabilities as an efficient and effective cartridge.

Yet the 9mm’s journey from a bullet designed by Georg Luger for submachine guns to, perhaps, one of the most controversial self-defense cartridges in the world, has been one of exponential growth and development. This continues into today’s modern world, over 100 years since its conception.

What are the most popular 9mm brands you sell?

Before you settle on a box size, it helps to know where prices sit right now. Our 9mm price-per-round history tracks the cheapest range ammo on the market every month since 2009. If you want a familiar range load to compare against that history, Winchester White Box 9mm comes in 115, 124, and 147 grain FMJ, from 50-round boxes up to 1,000-round cases.

You can filter our entire selection using the left sidebar to see which brands we currently have in-stock and available using the Manufacturers filter. You can also filter by attributes such as Bullet Type, Bullet Weight, Casing Type and Primer Type to find what you need.

As you can see from the comparison above, bullet weight varies between 115 and 124 grains depending on the specific 9mm variant. If you’re deciding which option best fits your needs, take a look at our guide on the best grain for 9mm for a detailed breakdown of how each performs in practice.

  • Gary said:

Some time ago I picked up 1000 rounds of MBI ammo, probably through Lucky Gunner. I finally got around to using it, and my M9A3 had a ton of failure to feed issues. I picked up a 9mm Sherridan case guage, and out of the 1000 rnds, about 100 of them are bad. They literally get stuck in the gauge to the point you can't easily get them out... which is why the don't work. Pretty horrible QC and very unimpressive.

  • Whiskey Bravo said:

Great ammo for the price had ZERO issues. Delivery was very quick and efficient

  • Steve said:

Have put it through a couple different guns and had zero problems so far.

  • Gerald said:

I have been thru 100 rounds of this MBI ammunition in my H&K P30 with no jams or misfires. Excellent value!

  • JoeyK said:

Fired about 150 rounds each through Walter PPS and S&W Shield. No FTFs and both guns showed very little residue.

  • Wildman said:

I've fired about 200 rounds using my Glock 17 thus far and had no problems whatsoever. For the price, I have recommended your product to others. Thanks.

  • Tomaz said:

The only reason I don't give a 5 stars on quality is because it leaves a LOT of powder behind to clean up after shooting. Other than that, I enjoyed your products.

  • Bramson Muges said:

Fired about fifty rounds through my XDs. Had two failures to extract with the spent casing stuck halfway in the chamber. Both times same exact stoppage. I think the shell may have been weak and expanded to much. I think they need to find better brass. Although it functioned in my Glock just fine. So it can't be too bad.

  • Charles said:

I went through about 500 today. In the first 100 I had a fired shell jam so the action couldn't even open. This was my S&W M&P 9 which cycles ANYTHING. Had to hammer a screwdriver down the barrel. Everything fired fine again until a little over 300 rounds and had the same type of jam, except it was live! I whacked the gun against a table about 10 times facing down range until it finally fired off, still couldn't open the action, so applied the hammer/screwdriver technique. Pretty great ammo, but I'm assuming a few were loaded a bit too hot and the brass expanded to the point of jamming up in the barrel.

  • Big Jim said:

Purchased this MBI ammo last year and did bot get to shoot it until recently and was quite surprised at the accuracy I was able to achieve with this ammo. Mine came in two small boxes and they fit right in a 50cal ammo can. Great ammo for the money and will purchase again from these fine sellers.

  • Ray said:

Price was great, but I do not like the bags, when you open all the ammo goes all over. I prefer boxes. I shot over 250 rounds no misfires.

  • Zaza said:

We have had no problems with the ammo and will buy again.

  • watermn said:

bought this ammo to run during a 2 day Uzi course. shot as well if not better than some of the factory orginal stuff. 25 rounds in 2 1/2 seconds in a 4 inch group.

  • PistolPete said:

Fine product I will order again. A win-win. Good range time & support NRA. What's not to like?

  • bigbukt said:

haven't had time to shoot yet but with today's prices this was a great deal definitely will shop here again

  • Little D said:

Feeds Great The Only problem is the small plastic bags that they place 100 rounds per bag alot of them had busted open so they might as well just sell

  • Ryanxd9 said:

Great ammo. Best service and turn around. Thank you keep up the best service.

No jams, fail to fires and great fun

  • Chibob said:

I purchased a Sig 2022 and called Sig for break-in information. They said they liked people to shoot 124 gr. rounds for the first 100 rounds to properly break-in the weapon. I purchased the MBI ammo for that purpose. I"ve since ordered 500 more rounds of 9 mm and 200 res of .40 cal . No FTE's, No FTF's with a new gun. Think that says it all

  • Flametamer said:

Bought 400 rounds, shot 230 so far. No problems. Every round fed and shot just like it should. Going to buy more of this.

  • Matt said:

Ordered 1,000 when supplies were tighter a few months back. First few hundred worked fine (not one problem), but then in the last 100-bag alone, I had 2 FTEs and one misfire that was so bad, I had to drill the bullet out of the bore. Hope it's just a coincidence they all came at the same time. Will fire the last 400 rounds with curiosity before ordering more.

  • freddy said:

I used one gen2 glock 19 one gen4 19 one gen 3glock 17 the only problem was the new only 20 rounds through it will fix it self after a couple hundred rounds.nice for the price when you cant find the time to load your own.

  • KD said:

Received my order quickly. No problems in my P-95, 92FS, CW9. Packaged well for shipping. I'll be back!

  • rip01 said:

Works great, will buy again, target practice load, my 92F

  • Mustangrob said:

Value was great, quality was ok, a lot of rounds seemed to have small dings/dents in the casings as well as the bullet itself. Performance is still a little in doubt, shot numerous rounds thru my Beretta 92FS and did well, thru my new Nano didnt perform as good and had one FTE, maybe because the gun is new, I dont know.

  • dennis said:

Shot about 300the rds thru a new ruger sr9. Had a couple of failed ejections,it maybe because of the new gun.im sure this will correct as the gun gets broken in.satisfied with everything else.just a little distressed that the ammo here has doubled in price.if it corrects I will be buying more.

Out of 2,500 bullets, 3 did not fire. Primers were definitely struck by the firing pin.

  • Andre said:

We had a couple of ejection issues at the range but I am sure that this was more to do with insufficient grip stiffness with my wife's small hands and nothing to do with the ammo. I had no issues.

  • Rick said:

Initial clip 15rds 1st 5 no problem then 7 did not eject completely. Cleaned gun next two clips no problems.

I've used this brand of Ammo for over 10 years. I never had a Failure to Feed or Eject. Wolf 9 mm Ammo feels snappy enough. However, the only downside that there is a STEEL CORE in the batch of 9 mm Ammo that I have. As such I can't use it at the indoor range I belong to.

Don’t buy this ammo for anything that requires cycling aka semis. It’s crap. I believe it’s under loaded or perhaps the primers are no good. Bought quite a bunch and I can’t use it for anything but practice drills for failures.

And in some cases it more accurate. And a little cheaper. I shoot around a Thousand rounds a week ,so l can't afford the buy the good stuff.

I have used all different brands of ammo and this Maxxtech brand was by far the worst. I shot it with a few different guns and I had issues with each gun. I've been buying this ammo for a while and it just runs I have not had any problems with any of my pistols and it seems to be for whatever reason a little cleaner shooting I tried some steel casing that was supposed to be upgraded and it was just a few dollars less than this brand but I can tell you now I will never go back to steel casing unless the price goes dramatically down because way too many issues with filthy guns and a lot of duds.

I’ve been running Blazer Brass through my Glock and overall, I’m impressed. It earns 5 stars for quality and price—great value for the performance it offers. However, I’m giving 4 stars for performance because I experienced two misfeeds during my sessions. No doubt due to Blazer's lower muzzle pressure, which I specifically chose to reduce wear and tear on the barrel, slide, and other cycling components. I also chose Blazer to save a bit of money. I went in understanding the trade-offs, and for my purposes, it’s still a solid choice. If you’re using this ammo, just be aware of the potential for minor cycling issues, especially in firearms designed for higher-pressure loads.

I've gone through over 10,000 rounds of Blazer 9mm ammo and have not had a single malfunction. It is pretty dirty compared to other brands but the cost per round makes up for it to me. Just clean your guns more often. Stores well too, we have some loose in an ammo can for over a year and no issues with it. Just keep desiccant packet inside can.

I have tried buying some other (cheaper) brands and have had issues with stovepipes and ammo feed after firing a hundred rounds or so. The blazers have stayed consistent, and kept on rolling even after 400-500 rounds in a weekend of fun .

I purchased Blazer at a local Fleet Farm and it was 14.99 for a box of 50 9mm and this was on sale and I bought 1000 rounds. With tax it came out to around $0.34 per round. I purchased 2 1000 round 9mm here, and even with tax and shipping, it still came out to $0.29 per round. I've been spending a lot of time at the range and have been going through 150 to 200 rounds per day. So it adds up and buying 2000 rounds from Ammo.com... that comes out to $100 savings over buying local.

I purchased a case for a frontsight course 4 day Handgun course. It worked perfectly, the price was good and everything came together thanks for ammo.com.

Ammo shots good, no jams or misfires so far. A little pricey, but all ammo is right now.

I ordered ammo after finding it harder and harder to find the ammo at the gun store. The price was great I saved about $100.00 and it was delivered within a few days. I'll be placing another order for 45 ammo in the next week, I'm very happy with the service and will be doing all of my ammo buying from you guys. Thanks, Harry Norfolk, VA.

The ammo I purchased for my 9mm was just what I was hoping for. A replacement for the expensive ammo I was using that would shoot just the same. And viola, I found it!

I used this to break in my new Firearm and sight in my new optic. Cheap price and pretty clean.

Good target practice ammo for the price. Will jam occasionally but for the price it's manageable. Better than other brands I've used but not perfect

Bought 1000 rounds due to price. Other reviews seemed okay. I have shot 5 mags and almost every round jammed. Great for teaching my children hw to deal with firearm issues but terrible if I needed it to function properly.

The Blazer Brass 9mm ammo performed very well. Didn’t make a mess of my gun. And I had no misfires. Quality ammo. I can only give it 4 stars though because of what we are forced to pay for target ammo these days.

  • BobbiJo said:

This ammo is solid range stuff. It’s clean and I’ve yet to have any issues with it. Can’t go wrong with blazer brass. Thank God for Ammo.com. They ship super fast and they have decent prices. One of the few companies that ship to NJ too. And love the sticker they put in every order.

Regrettably price for ammunition during the shortage is higher than previous pricing. That said, this is a great range practice round. Recommend.
