Overview of Fiocchi Ammo

Founded in 1876 by Giulio Fiocchi in Lecco, Italy, Fiocchi Ammunition has grown into one of the most respected names in the industry. Giulio, an accountant by trade, recognized an opportunity when sent to collect on a loan from a struggling black powder and musket manufacturer. Convincing his brother Giacomo to partner with him, Giulio transformed the business into a leading ammunition manufacturer.

Fiocchi Italy: Early Innovations and Worker Welfare

Fiocchi began by producing reloadable primer cases and transitioned to complete cartridges in the 1890s, embracing new technologies like smokeless powder. The company also became a pioneer in worker welfare, providing affordable housing, nurses, and childcare for employees—initiatives that continue today. During the early 20th century, Fiocchi expanded into ammunition for sporting, hunting, and military use.

Rebuilding After WWII

During World War II, Fiocchi’s factory was seized by German forces and later destroyed by Allied bombing in 1945. Undeterred, the Fiocchi family rebuilt the factory in 1946 without external aid, leveraging modern facilities to produce cutting-edge ammunition. This resilience enabled the company to thrive through the 1950s and 60s, developing partnerships that expanded their global reach.

Fiocchi’s Product Line

Fiocchi produces high-quality ammunition for a wide range of applications, including:

Shotgun shells: For world-class competitions.
Centerfire cartridges: For sport and defense.
Rare collector calibers: Like the .455 Webley.

The company is also known for innovations like Cyalume Chemtracer shotgun shells, the Canned Heat line, and NATO-spec certified ammunition. Fiocchi cartridges have even been used in Olympic victories in Athens (2004) and Beijing (2008).

Fiocchi of America: “Italian by Birth, American by Choice”

In 1983, Carlo Fiocchi, great-grandson of the founder, established Fiocchi of America to meet growing demand in the U.S. By the mid-1980s, a manufacturing plant was built in the Ozarks near Springfield, Missouri. Today, over 75% of the ammunition Fiocchi sells in the U.S. is produced domestically, cementing its reputation as a premium yet accessible brand. Among their most popular domestic offerings is the Fiocchi 9mm 115gr FMJ, a high-volume range round trusted by competitive shooters and everyday range-goers alike. It’s just one option in our deep catalog of Fiocchi 9mm ammo, which spans everything from budget FMJ range fodder to XTP-loaded defensive rounds.

A Legacy of Quality

Fiocchi remains a family-run business, now in its fourth and fifth generations. With a history spanning over 140 years, the company continues to innovate while maintaining its Italian roots and commitment to excellence. Whether for competitive shooting, hunting, or collecting rare calibers, Fiocchi stands out as a trusted name in ammunition.

For varmint and predator hunters, Fiocchi offers high-performance centerfire rifle ammunition including .22-250 ammo, delivering the flat trajectory and accuracy the cartridge is known for.

This is a very reliable range round. I have fired it through a full size SIG P226 that is more than 25 years, and a SIG P365 Legion AXG that is a recent purchase, and have had no problems whatsoever. I would definitely buy this range round again.

I’ve tried different brands of 9mm ammunition and this may be my favorite by far. I am no expert by I felt a little improvement in accuracy and I like for it performed.
Vince said:
I never write reviews, but feel I had to for this. I’ve shot two cases of this over the last month and have been very disappointed with this product. Every third or fifth round seemed to be a fail to fire, making training anything at speed or higher round count strings of fire near impossible and incredibly frustrating. I’m hoping the manufacturer just got a batch of hard primers and this only affected this particular lot, but who knows. Ammo.com has always been awesome. This product, in my experience, has not been awesome.

Getting back into shooting and enjoying running through the boxes. An occasional stovepipe in one of my Glocks, maybe 1 out of 50, and that could just be breaking the guns in.
Jeremy said:
My local range sells these for use with their 9mm rentals. Very good. The quality and performance is pretty good and cost is very reasonable.

I have only shot 50 rounds so far but not one problem feeding or ejecting. When I cleaned my gun, not much dirt. Recoil was a bit harsh but my Taurus G2 is brand new and needs break in time. I will buy this ammo again.

I have fired over 4000 rounds of this ammo in 4 different handguns, and I have never had a misfire! The consistency of performance really helps me measure my marksmanship objectively.

A yr ago or so a range worker told me about this brand being the best range ammo for it’s all around performance, no misfire, loading, extract of casing, jam ups, nothing!....so far been true to a “T” I been using since and not one hiccup..not one people, out of my HKVP9 not one jam up.
Roger said:
Have run a little over 250 rounds of the 1000 round order. I have not had any failure to feed rounds and no failure to extract rounds.

I purchased 250 rounds of this ammo, and was totally taken back by the response time getting the ammo. I ordered on saturday night online, received it tuesday afternoon. I have since run one box through my Suomi M31, a Finnish sub machine gun, and it fired flawlessly. No hangs, no misfires, no low blow back pressures. And the price was great. Only problem ( non problem) was one box busted open in shipping, go figure Fed-Ex with the gorilla baggage handlers.... ;-)

I've only shot 50 rounds so far, but the Fiocchi 9mm 115gr. FMJ round seems pretty good. A little dirtier than expexted, but no misfeeds or FTFs so I am happy. A little more expensive than the S&B ammo that I prefer.

For the price, very happy with this purchase!!

I was having trouble with other brands of 9MMs. The extractor was unable to remove spent cases so the gun would jam. It would jam every 4th or 5th round. I would have to remove the mag, use a small flathead screw driver to pull back the next live round and shake the gun so the spend case would fall out. I tried three different brands before I bought the Fiocchi rounds. I cycled 150 rounds of Fiocchi 9MMs through my gun yesterday WITHOUT a single jam! Could not be more satisfied with the ammo's performance. Thanks.

Quick delivery! Easy to deal with! Will recommend you to other shooters! THANKS!
Longshooter said:
Gang. This is SUBsonic ammo - of *course* it isn't going to feed reliably in a pistol or rifle unless is equipped with a suppressor. Please, read up - it isn't expected to! Without the suppressor, which provides substantially more back pressure to the action when the round is fired, your gun WILL NOT CYCLE. Use **ONLY w/ a suppressor** (what virttually all subsonic ammo is literally is designed for.)
Lyle said:
Generally, I like Fiocchi ammo, however the 62 grain subsonic 5.7 x 28 constantly misfeeds in both my S&W 5.7 x 28 and my Ruger 57. I have no issues with the Fiocchi 40 grain hollow point.
Scott said:
The ammo did not perform well at all! The magazine hold 22 rounds, rack the slide tire round went off would not eject properly had to rack the gun every time to fire next round! Very disappointing after spending hundreds and the ammo doesn’t work properly or preform as expected!

Bullet Points: Fiocchi Ammo

An Italian ammo brand, Fiocchi also has a manufacturing plant in Missouri – where they produce a wide variety of ammunition.
Fiocchi first became available in 1877, offering sporting ammo. They’re now known for their world-class shotgun ammunition, and NATO-specification ammo for military use.
The Fiocchi factory was seized by the Germans during WWII. While employees successfully resisted the forces, bombs from Allied planes destroyed the factory. Rebuilding after the war allowed the brand to take on the most advanced technologies and designs – and to this day, Fiocchi ammo for sale is on the cutting edge.
From shotgun shells for world-class competition shooting to their inclusive line of centerfire ammo, Fiocchi is always on top of the trends.
