Overview of Remington Ammo

Founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington, Remington Arms began with the simple idea of building a better rifle. Today, it’s the oldest firearms manufacturer in the U.S. and the only one producing both firearms and ammunition domestically. From its humble beginnings in Ilion, New York, Remington has grown into a cornerstone of American manufacturing.

The Birth of Remington

Eliphalet Remington’s gunsmithing journey began with crafting a flintlock rifle that won second place in a competition but sparked demand among competitors. This success led to the founding of E. Remington & Sons. The company thrived, becoming a leader in rifle and shotgun manufacturing, and introduced innovations like the rolling block rifle in 1865.

Expanding the Brand

During WWI, Remington produced rifles for Allied forces but faced financial strain after a failed contract with Russia. In the 1920s, the company diversified, manufacturing items like knives and cash registers to utilize excess capacity from wartime production. Later acquired by DuPont, Remington expanded globally and became a leader in ammunition production.

Innovations in Firearms

Remington introduced the iconic Model 870 Wingmaster shotgun in 1950 and pioneered plastic shotgun shells in the 1960s. They continue to serve hunters, competitive shooters, and firearm enthusiasts with modern offerings like the R-15 rifles and Nitro Mag shotguns. Remington's commitment to quality has made its firearms and ammunition a staple in American households.

Remington in the Modern Era

In the 21st century, Remington expanded into security technologies while maintaining its focus on high-quality firearms. Despite challenges, including a bankruptcy filing in 2018, the brand remains synonymous with innovation and reliability in the firearms industry.

The ammo is not very good quality, 1-3 out of 10 rounds miss fires or jams. It may be cheap but there's a reason why.... It's kind of trash.

bulk purchase of range food...not the most powerful of .22 caliber...but have had no feed issues (yet) with pistol (semi-auto) and rifle (also semi-auto)...a good bargain for the price

Good value and lots of it too!!

  • Petit Tireur said:

First 250 rounds fired with zero failure to feed or fire.

No misfiring on any of it so far.

Cheap, but dirty ammo. This ammo might go bang and might not. Accuracy is about 2 plus inches at 50 yards on a good day. Out of 50 rounds I get approx. 6 rounds that did not fire, half of them did fire on the second try. You get what you pay for.

Recently received my second order of 5000 round lot. Shoots well through a revolver, semi-auto rifle, and semi-auto pistol. Outstanding value, very clean ammo, unlike Aguila, which was gummy and super dirty, causing failure to feeds. Very pleased with the ammo. I'd seen reviews in years past that were negative, but couldn't be happier with purchase.

I used to shoot this when I was a boy. A few decades later I tried it again, and a few more decades later, it hasn't changed. If you enjoy spending your time cleaning your iron, this won't disappoint, because it's the dirtiest, most filthy ammunition I've ever shot. I have one brick left from decades ago purchase and might use it when I run out of my other brands, but for my iron, I doubt I'll ever purchase any ever again. It gums up ALL my iron every time. It's my last choice desperate use ammunition, because of that. I've never found another brand that's as Dirty as the Remington .22 ammunition.

I shoot this load in my Beretta. There is always an issue with .22 primers. With these Thunderbolt Rounds I'm have greater success with .22's than others. They also work great in the Ruger Mark IV or Buckmark pistols, and my 10/22 Ruger rifle. As of today I have ordered another 2k more rounds.

I was looking for something to shoot that didn't cost me an arm and a leg. There were no 9mm or 22LR available so I bought these 38SPL rounds. They performed quite well and allowed me to shoot my old model 6. 4" heavy barrel S&W. Over all I am happy with the results.
