Hornady Ammo For Sale
Overview of Hornady Ammo
Joyce Hornady sold his first bullet in 1949, a .30 caliber Spire Point weighing 150 grain. He was using a surplus bullet assembly press in a rented garage, where his company was born from his desire to build a better product that he could use himself – because first and foremost, Joyce was a shooter. His company would grow to become a force in the ammunition and reloading markets. Hornady Manufacturing grew rapidly during its first few years, increasing sales by 300 percent by the second year.
Hornady's innovation began during World War II when he repurposed .22 rimfire cartridges into bullets suitable for varmint shooting. Recognizing the lack of hunting ammunition in the post-war market, he focused on producing accurate, reliable rounds, leading to the development of Hornady's signature Spire Point bullet. Despite challenges like raw material shortages during the Korean War, Hornady adapted by creating alternative products, which later contributed to advancements in bullet jacket technology.
Expansion and Ballistic Breakthroughs
In 1958, Hornady moved to a dedicated facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, complete with an underground range for onsite ballistics testing. The company collaborated with U.S. Army ballisticians to develop the secant ogive design, which became a hallmark of Hornady bullets. Over the years, Hornady acquired competitors like Pacific Tool Company and West Coast Shot Company, consolidating its position as a leader in ammunition manufacturing.
Hornady's Family Legacy
The unexpected death of Joyce Hornady in 1981 marked a pivotal moment for the company. Under the leadership of his son, Steve Hornady, the company not only survived but thrived, maintaining its reputation for quality and innovation. Today, family members are required to gain outside experience before joining the business, ensuring a fresh perspective while preserving the Hornady legacy.

I shot a 340lb mule deer with the 143gr ELD-X. He walked in a tight circle and fell over. These bullets hit where you point them and hit hard. They're all I shoot on big game.

Ammo performes as required! Flat shooting, punching holes right through some coyote. Using thermal, this ammo was putting down 1/8" groups.

I used this ammo for the first time this year in my 6.5 Creedmoor I shot a buck at 200yrds. He was dead before hid head hit the ground never seen anything like it. I hunted with a 30/06 before this and deer never went down that fast. This ammo is great.

I am a depredation hunter for deer and hogs I have shot hundreds of deer and many hogs. If using a silencer as I do this ammo has cycle without jam or misfire up to 200 rounds in a 5 hour period. Best Ammo for a 6.5 Creedmoor I have ever used.

I hunted in Africa with this ammo and it is awesome. Every animal dropped in it's tracks. As close to a custom load as you can get over the counter. I'm going back and use same gun and ammo.

I've shot deer with these and so far only one deer has moved around in the same spot he fell but only for a few minutes, never got up again.

This reduces the recoil on my Fix which is a lightweight hunting rifle. Very accurate. Very.

My Savage 110 is my first sub-MOA gun out of the box and it was pulled off using the Hornady 143gr ELD. I tried a few other garden variety ammo makers including the Nosler, Winchester and some exotics, but none performed like the Hornady.

First time firing my FN SCAR 20S and this ammo with a new weapon performed perfectly. Only shot 200 rounds but did so with zero issues. Would of liked it to jam or misfire or something to practice going through the paces but it fired perfectly.

I hunt with 143gr ELD-X and sight in my Tikka Veil with them, but when I want to see what it will really do I shoot these match grade cartridges. There's a difference. Very cool ammo.

Bought by accident, looking for ELD MATCH 120gr. Used at Whittington to shoot the White Buffalo. Slightly flatter trajectory than the 120gr, but apparently just as accurate. Buffalo aren’t varmints but the cartridge still does the job.
