Overview of 223 Rem 55 Grain Ammo
55 grain 223 Remington is the workhorse weight for the cartridge - the standard FMJ load that armies, plinkers, and AR-15 shooters have leaned on for decades. The bullet that fed the M16 family (as M193 ball) lives on in civilian 55gr loads from every major manufacturer, and it remains the default choice for high-volume range work, varmint hunting at moderate distances, and stockpiling.
The 55gr projectile leaves a 20-inch barrel around 3,200 feet per second, delivering a flat trajectory inside 300 yards and enough fragmentation potential out of standard-twist barrels to be effective on coyote, prairie dog, and similar varmint-sized game. Most factory rifles chambered in 223 Rem or 5.56 NATO are zeroed for 55gr loads at the factory, which is part of why it dominates the AR-15 ammo market.

I have a remington Model 700sps varmint 223. with a bull barrel, n added a bipod, and a Barska 4-14 x 40 scope. i picked up a fiew boxes of the pmc bronze boat tail ammo in 55 grain simply because they wer only 7.25 for a box of 20. i was realy surprised on how consistant they wer. i placed 18 outa 20 rounds in a 3 inch circle at 150 yds. with a slight breeze. over all im realy pleased with this product, and will continue to use, an recommend this ammo.
